Ted has it! The gun looks very similar to the one i saw. But the gun had no ribs.......am i way off on that? Where other sxs doubles made without the ribs?

You are welcome. There was an English gun, the Martin, that was produced, at least some of them, without ribs. But, I'm doubtful anyone will ever get one for $500. Best, Ted

Franc, I think you mean Larry.
The best Brettons are pre-war. Later guns had PLASTIC doing duty as barrel bands, and whatnot.
Thad Scott had a "mixte" style Bretton not long ago, was 12 gauge and .22LR, I think. Too unique, even for me. Best, Ted
