I have a Westley Richards sxs and it has on the rib "Westley Richards Keeper's gun". Has anyone seen this before or know what it's about? The gun has some nice engraving and is very good shape. Just wondering. Thanks, Frank

they were generally lower grade Westley's and were commonly given by the owner of an estate to the game keeper for his use.

Thomas Bland & Sons did market a "Keeper's Gun."
The ol'boy of the mannor had his man to shoot foxes, hawks and poachers. All were bad business for the estate.

I have a a W.W. Greener marked "Forester's Gun" which I take to be of the same ilk.
