I find it hard to believe that in our time, any one would ever think of cutting the barrels of an American classic gun. As others have suggested, sell it and get a gun that suits you.

That should put to rest the idea of the smallbore Lefever being a holy relic of a wand! Sounds ponderous for a 16g.

Chuck, You trying to be the bad devil on one shoulder?
I don't even think this is a legitimate question. I don't see much of it on here, but I think it is trolling. No one who has any appreciation of historic artifacts, let alone classic American doubles, would even consider cutting those barrels.

I don't know why everyone is so much against a guy making a slight modification to a gun in order to make it suitable for him to shoot. I would cut them off if it were me. But only if I were going to use it for cowboy shooting..........Denny Crane

Not really. But, I have handled a 30" damascus Lefever, and for the exact reason stated, had zero desire for it. The price would have been right, but, sawing a chunk off those long damascus tubes would have made sure it never was anything but a cheap gun.

Even if I could afford to make my guns worth 10% of what they had been worth, I wouldn't do it.
Best,
Ted

Hell No!

Between "Cowboy Shooting" and "Sporting Clays", all the old doubles and Model 97s will finally be destroyed!

If the original value has been destroyed - have 'em sleeved-up.
Better half a gun, than no gun at all.
