That indeed is the gun. I have only seen pictures of it and heard John's description of the gun. I too believe it has been refinished, and possibly restocked. He believed that the swivels had been added after the fact. Those issues plus the fact that he thought the chambers were opened up but wasn't sure as he didn't have his gauge's with him. The barrels may have been cut too as they are 30" now. It's possible they could be original length, but it will have to be checked out. I plan to inspect the gun tomorrow along with a few others that I have my eye on. John picked it up last night I believe. We were discussing the gun before he bought it.
I would be concerned about the wall thickness at the end of the chambers if they indeed have been opened especially if they were pushed out to 3 1/2". That is alot of metal to remove, but who knows? The probable refinish, possible restock, the chamber issue if it exisits, the swivels all add up to something I would not be interested in, at least not right now for that money, even though it is a very rare gun as only 153 were made. The majority are believed to have been damascus guns and this one is a fluid steel gun.
Probably a good buy for someone, just not me, I would be much more interested in it if it didn't have the swivels and if the finish was original, which from the pictures anyway, looks to be redone. If it's a restock, then I will/would not even consider it, but that is just me.
