For NiklasP. The Federal low pressure loads are 12x70, and are Gold Medal cases. I prefer these for reloading low pressure shells. Gold Medals cost more because of the care and testing done during each run; whereas with the standard Federal Target Loads (which we buy directly from Federal for our 4-H club) are a fully automated run. Thats why regular Gold Medal loads are in the $5.00+ range, but Gander Mountain can sell the Federal Target loads for $3.69 on sale and $4.00 standard price.

For Greg Tag, you are paying far too much for lead shot. Bailey's in Houston sells chilled for $15 and magnum for $17.50. Also, I find that Cheddite primers substitute well for Win 209 and costs $99.99 for 5000 at Grafs, and Claybuster WAA12SL at Grafs is $78.99 for 5000. We buy Hodgdon's Clays for $95.00/8lbs from a vendor who comes over from Louisiana for gun shows. Using 1 oz magnum shot and 17.5 grains Clays, and free STS hulls, I keep my costs (minus labor) to under $3.00 per box of quality sporting clays rounds. Much better and cheaper than promos at Wal-Mart or Gander Mountain. Costs a little more to load Federal Gold Medals for low pressure because powder (IMR PB or 7625)costs a penny more a round and Claybuster wads don't work well in Federal hulls. Have to buy regular Federal wads. Still, I keep my costs for these under $3.50 for 25 rounds. Jim Haynes
