today at Northern Illinois. 23 dead or wounded- including the shooter. A shotgun and two handguns. Continues to look bad for gun owners.

It will be interesting to see if this shooter was on anti depressants like the Va Tech shooter was. Think they would ban them?

DECATUR, ILLINOIS:"Skinney white guy with a stocking cap" Did himself after killing 6 innocent college kids & wounding many more. Damn shame he had to take some with him. If just one of those students or professors was armed???? Cops were there in 2 minutes. BATF is on the scene & going to find out who sold him the guns which really doesn't matter now.

Why are these murderer's given so much press coverage? Is it too much of a stretch to imagine that other depressed individuals will learn that taking out some people before killing themselves is the only way for them to buy a ticket to their fifteen minutes of fame?

Your observation is correct. 100,000 college students do good, even great, deeds every day and the news totally ignores them. Bad news sells, good news is a waste in the drive by media of today.

How should these be reported? What is "lurid" about the coverage? A senator gets a mild rebuke from his peers for outrageous behaviour. A person for whatever reasons goes on a killing rampage. Both are top-line news because of common human interest in hypocrisy, demented acts and the sensational.
