In the Oct.-Nov issue of handloader magazine there was an excellent article by Wallace Labisky on Tungsten Super Shot made in China. The make up is 95% tungsten and 5% nickel and iron.
A couple of highlights. They were patterning onto a piece of 3/8 plywood with a steel backing to catch the pellets. None of the pellets recovered were deformed.
With cyl choke, it was shooting 70% patterns at 40 yards.
In the two modern shotguns Labisky shot the ammo in, there were scored places in the barrels, starting at the forcing cones.
Although it can be loaded to lower pressures, until they come out with a better wad, I don't think I would even shoot it in a modern gun.
I am inclined to believe this is the same shot advertised as "nice shot".
