"do I really need another gun?" Now that is a nasty thing to say or think. You should get a two gun penalty for the thought.
Keep the gun as you ordered it. The chokes you have will not make more than 5-10 yards difference in your effective range but will allow you to take larger birds or wild birds if you get the chance for longer, tougher shots. I am not real fond of a small bore that does not have a mod choke to give me the option of taking a 30-35 yard shot if I get the chance. It is easier to wait an extra second than it is to run after the birds to close the range by five or ten yards. Sometimes the second shot, at 30 plus yards, is needed to finish your shooting partners "lightly" hit bird. All of ours go down with the first shot so we have to play backup to lesser shooters. Just a thought.

I shoot some pen raised pheasant and chuker occasionaly with a 28. I think that cyl and imp would be great but if you are undecided go with Skeet 1 and Skeet II. That is what I use in my 12 ga that I hunt blue quail with. Sometimes I wish that I had tighter chokes but the farther you shoot them the harder they are to find. It was however extremely effective on wild pheasants with 6s this year.
Besides imp cyl and modified mean a lot of different measurments to a lot of different people and gunmakers.

Jimmy, And here I thought Dez wanted to be like me.... I wear a 4" brim hat to keep the rain and sun from my head cause I don't know when to come in. Phil, Just get a gun that's different than your others and enjoy it. ...or get one the same as one of the others and enjoy it. Don't get all too worried about it is my point.

I shoot a 28ga Winchester model 23 classic with IC & mod chokes. The IC is fine for pointed live birds, and skeet. The mod is adequate for 16 yd trap target, but a bit tight for skeet, so that I have to make sure I shoot the barrel in the right order to get the longer targets with the mod.
Overall I'd say go with IC & mod. Regards, Ron

I don't know what you think, Amarillo Mike, but he kinda looks like a Dez Young wannabee to me. Naw - Chuck knows he much too old to go for that look! Best, Mike

I thought for about 4 hours on the barrel length the day the RBL-28 was announced before placing my order. Between the Wife and I we already have 3 28-gauge doubles with 26-inch barrels, so that choice was automatically out. We have two over/unders with 28-inch barrels, but thought long and hard on that length to match the Launch Edition 20-gauge. Finally decided to go with the 30-inchers and the tighter chokes, and call it a Dove gun.
Chuck,
That picture reminds me of my Navy days in San Diego. While the Leathernecks came to town to drink on the weekends us Navy guys would camp on the beaches up at the lovely shooting preserve the Corps provided and do maneuvers on those huge gangs of top-knotted little birds on those steep hillsides. Our routine was usually to try and get two guys on the top of the ridge above them and the other two work up from below. We killed a lot of birds and I hadn't yet suffered 30 years of sitting at a government desk in Washington, DC!! I fear this unusually heavy snow this winter is not doing our Washington State Quail any good.

Best, Mike Mike, If I ever get the pleasure of huntin with you and someone asks who my huntin buddy is, I'm gonna tell them that's "3 horses". They're bound to ask why I call you 3 horses. I'll tell 'em "nag, nag, nag"
