I would stick with the 30inch barrels because in such a light gun the extra length will smooth the swing - besides the long barrels look really cool in small guages. As for chokes,if "plantation" quail translates pen raised birds I would anticipate mostly shorter range shots and the more open chokes would be my choice. I know with the pen raised Bob Whites we use to train dogs they are not wild flushers and the shots are all well within 30yds. I prefer skeet and modified chokes which work fine for the wild desert quail. And the guns i use for them are set up that way in 28(sold) 20 and 16ga. I can cover everything from 10yds to 50 yds with that combination.
