I have just replaced the cocking slider on my A Fox. The replace- ment part was a new "old" stock replacement requiring minimal fitting--deepened side grooves by 0.005 inch each.
Does anyone know of a Portland, OR person/shop that can case harden this part?
Thanks for your help.

No I don't but I doubt the original slider was case hardened- just high carbon steel. I have never seen original that looks like it was cased. Why do you want to case it?

Dogfox,
The original part from my 1908 A grade was hardened--a mill file will barely scratch the surface. The new part (an original white metal Fox part) is relatively soft and metal removal with a jew- ler's file was very easy. Since this part is subjected to high forces during the cocking process I thought it would be wise to harden it to minimize wear.
Thanks for your input

Call Keith Kearcher. I think he's in Bend OR.

You can case harden it yourself with Kasenit, available from Brownell's.
