If I can find the subject,(person)who will participate ,I will fund a project. The person will eat 1/4 oz of #6 lead shot per week for 52 weeks and have his/hers blood levels checked for lead.I will not ask for brain function as I do not think that will be necessary.

DDT, joe. That is what comes from the pesticides I mentioned that were getting into the rivers and streams. Larry mentioned 20-25 years ago that the eagle population started to increase. That is when DDT was banned. So, would anyone like to buy the gallon of creosote that I have stashed out in my garage? Oops!! Sorry. Dave just made another ten bucks.

Ah, I think Lowell and a few others have been part of that experiment for a while now. So, save your money and sit back and watch. Ol postoak is putting DDT on his cereal to boot. These guys know everything..

Don't forget chlordane was banned as a crop/termite pesticide 20 yrs ago as well. Chlordane was implicated in not only human health issues but birds as well.

Until Grade 11, I went to a one-room school attended by some 40 kids. All those who smoked are dead, some for decades, mostly from cancer of one type or another. I remember when lead was a neccesity for plumbing, literally piping poison into our gullets. There's no question that we're being exposed to a lot of bad things, some old and some new. There's also no doubt in my mind that a whole industry has sprung up to scare us out of our wits, intended or otherwise. This is a health hazard in itself, particularly when it creates unwarranted anxiety among young adults. I think we were healthier and happier when we were glazed in dirt and didn't know a lot of things.

I think the key thing to remember is all things kill us. After all, McDonalds and other fast food places are toxic for us according to lawyers and experts. My view is lead CAN be hazardous. So can salt, etc. Let's fight the battle of reasonable versus the scare tactics. I am frankly much more concerned about crime and bad drivers than I am lead in my birds.

All this discussion over poisoning of birds had me concerned earlier today about the local owl population. So, I decided some direct observation field work was needed.
I went to Hooters for lunch. I can tell you all are healthy out there. It's not easy out there, but someone had to do it.

Thank you Chuck. Life is much to short for us to loose our sense of humor. With all the doom and gloom your thoughts are refreshing. I'm sure your research was a real eye opener.... Ron
