Actions on most Hoffmans were by Webley and Scott.

Most (bad choice of words, but my experience) Webley and Scott sidelock single traps were made without a sideplate on the off side. This seller leaves this to our imagination but I assume Kornbrath would have liked to have a second sideplate to engrave. This seller needs way more pictures to sell his gun. I guess we would need to ring him on the telly.

I have not seen one of these. Was the off side engraved to have the appearance of a sideplate?

No, John, the ones I have seen do not have a sideplate on the off side, decorative or functional. The off side on the ones I have examined has the appearance of a boxlock gun. I am heartbroken about the last one I "did not buy". It was a high condition example priced about like a few dinners at a decent restaurant and cabfare home. Oh, well.
