I looked at a very nice Weeks Bros. Birmingham 16 bore with rebounding hammers and a nice level of finish remaining that was tagged @ $3500. I went to get my friend so he could help me look at it and it was already gone when I got back. However,I was able to show him the progression of lock styles from penninsula, to island, to bar-in-wood, to bar-in-frame, to hammerless. All in Purdeys and all on one, six foot table thanks to Kirby @ Vintage Doubles.
Lewis Drake had a very nice 28 ga. damascus barreled gun, but it was a kid's gun with 12.5" LOP and 24" bbls.
Larry Baer had redone and very nicely upgraded a Webley & Scott 20 ga. Re-blacked, engraving chased, a few gold inlays, and he had pierced the top-lever and trigger guard. It was quite a lovely gun.
I was very disappointed that FAMARS brought NO hammerguns with them, although Butterfield's had two FAMARS "Quattro-Canones." Even in the sub-small bores they were way too heavy to be more than a curiosity, plus they held one too many shells to be a dove gun.
Nothing else in hammer guns tripped my trigger and I am hopeless when it comes to those "ear-hammered" guns.
