Tom I've got some first hand experience with Sporting Collectable auctions where I've heard of people asking "favors" of other bidders.
Once at a banquet at the Grand Ole Opry I wittnessed a guy get up walk over and literally beg a well known Nashville Lady to "let him win the item"...she did because that's how she was.
When your bid was topped you should never have asked someone to back off on their bidding.
Bottom line....You did and you should've kept quiet about it. Don't worry about it.
