I think the reason the stocks cracked on the SKB's was partially from the scallops and mostly from the walnut used. I think it was some kind of walnut grown in Japan. The stock will crack if the thrue bolt is loose but it can also crack from over tightening. My factory stock cracked early on from a loose thrue bolt and was replaced with Black Walnut. It took 30 years of hard use to start to develop cracks in the head and I believe they came from over tightening it. Go easy on the nut and check it occasionaly.
