I hope that is only when knuckles drag on the ground while walking erect.
So many guns, so little time!

L C Smith .410 bores came with 13 1/2" Stocks..MDC MD---Has anyone determined the reason that they built the 410 with that stock? I am assuming that this was mentioned in their catalogs. Best, John

Odd---- I just appraised 5 Field .410 Elsies, all original and one unfired, and all had 14-1/4" LOP.

I have found that with guns that have a bit more drop than modern guns, I can shoot a shorter stock pretty well.

I have seen it somewhere in their advertizing. The last .410 bore Smith I had, was a staight hand stock with 13 1/2 in pull. I imagine you could get whatever pull you wanted, within reason.. MDC

M D, On page 420 of Houchin's book is the factory specs for stocks----- 14-1/2" for "standard two-trigger guns". As to shorter or longer--- never say never with an Elsie !!!

I have an Ithaca Flues 28 gauge 2E with factory 24inch barrels and it came from factory with 13 1/2 inch length of pull. I cannot say that all came that way. Bobby

John, about a year ago I acquired a twenty-eight bore Parker DHE with Damascus barrels that was made for a lady (of high social stature) which still has the original Silvers pad (gone hard) and which measures 13 1/4" over the pad. It is the only (known) gun Parker ever made in any grade with 24" 28 ga. Damascus barrels. All of this is documented in the PGCA research letter I sent for and the gun remains as ordered. I'm kind of a large-framed guy and have trouble shooting it well.

On page 138 of Brophy's book (Brophy made a lot of errors, but this is copy from an earlier publication) a little block ad about the Smith .410 bore. I can;t see well enough to read it, but I thought it said 13 1/2"..MDC
