Looks pretty good so far,no over hanging sears like some of the Merkels from that era and extractors, but still a nice gun as long as barrels are unmessed with (check the chokes and be sure its not cut)I would guess late 20's gun but the water table pics should shed some light on that.
From what I see you should be able to get 15-1800 for it.
What name is on the rib? A retailer I suspect

Scott:

Sideclips are the elliptical extensions on the sides of the frame/standing breech which mate to the tubes where the metal has been removed on each side. At the time, they were considered to be reinforcement but I have several that were a bit loose. If it has 65mm chambers I would guess in the $1200-1500 range. But lets see the flats. At the muzzle, is there engraving or crosshatching between the tubes?

Kind Regards,

65mm will be something of the like of 2 1/2" or 2 9/16ths" chambers. Nice effort on your part.

I have a very similar Merkel 16 but in about 95% condition, with a more elaborate engraving pattern, straight grip stock, and with a four digit serial number below 4,900. It also has sideclips, also differently engraved. I think mine is a $2,500 to $2,750 gun with it's better wood and better condition, but it's not for sale. These are great handling and shooting guns. If you end up with it for sale, please drop me a note at the email address in my profile.
