Saw a 12 bore Daly Miroku in a gun shop the other day. It looked so rough (bluing on barrel partially stripped revealing an underlayer of black) that I quickly returned it to the rack. Made me think it wasn't blued, but enameled like some of the early SKB's. It also was a bit loose...noticeable gap. At a $300.00 asking price, I didn't give it a very close inspection. Now I'm wondering if it's worth putting a few bucks into for putting it back on face and rebluing. The stock and action are in good shape and it sports an aftermarket pad which was neatly installed. Is it worth $300...or even $200? Mike Orlen once told me when I had some barrel work done, that he can put a gun back on face.

I think you did well to leave it in the rack. I like the Daly Miroku SxS which is somewhat related to the Browning BSS. Bought one in 20ga for my grandson and it has been a dependable sturdy gun for him. You can buy them in pretty nice condition for not a lot more than they wanted for that one you saw with problems. Look in the $400 to $600 range.

I have a 12 ga Daly Miroku Superior grade. Nice gun but have never shot it well. Bought it in the orginal box for $125 at a gun show in the mid 80's. One chamber is slightly larger than the other, which was due to the original owner taking a 3" duck load and shooting in a 2 3/4" gun. Been thinking about making it a carrier gun for small gauge tubes.

Anyway, I don't think they would make a good project gun. You can still buy them fairly cheap as Jerry said.

I wouldn't spend the time/money to bring one on back on face.
