Does anyone know if the the Citori 20 gauge is on a scaled frame, or smaller frame than it's 12 gauge brother?

i've had two 20's and one 12, never simultaneously and never measured either one but my recollection is the 20 was tiny by comparison. the 20 i had most recently i traded to my father and i don't think there's any way you'd have gotten a 12 on that frame. i could reach almost all the way around it and i don't have particularly large hands.

Browning Superposed guns were built on two frame sizes, one for 12 and a smaller one for 20-28-.410 (not counting some prototypes and/or custom made guns). I'm 99.9% sure that the Citori follows the same system. I leave a 0.10% chance that I'm wrong.

I suspect there are Citori 12 frames out there that have been fitted with 20 gauge barrels, much like the Beretta 68x guns. But, my two field Citoris in 12 and 20 have different frames. The 12 is a standard 1970's 12/28/3" hunting gun, while the 20 is a mid-90's Lightning. I also had a Lightning in .410 that weighed a bit more than the 20, but I don't remember if the frame was any smaller.

Unless the gun is a two-barrel/two-gauge set(12 and 20), a 20 ga. should be on a smaller frame.

Yes, with the stipulations above about a 20g as part of a 2 bbl set. I have a newer 20g 525 Citori Sporting that is on a scaled down frame. The 28g and 410 use the 20g frame in the 525 line as well.
