Drew,
Another pic for the post.

I leak checked the ribs with soapy water and pressurized the barrels by putting air in the hole I drilled in the short rib behind the forend lug and plugging the bead hole with the bead. I couldn't find any bubbles anywhere.

Chuck, what a guy you are! You've widened my knowledge of many subjects, and most notably this last one! You deserve that lovely little .410 Nitro Special! Thanks again for your great contributions to our knowledge and love of double guns! Chopper

Thanks guys. This process was very satisfying to complete.
I posted this to encourage others that have good skills to try this. I really don't think it's difficult nor requires particularly high skill level, but it is time consuming and requires that you do the steps completely and well.

Drew,
I would like to add to the picture on leak checking that caution should be exercised in how much pressure to put in the barrels. I would limit it to no more than about 30 psi. There is a lot of surface area between the ribs. If you put 100 psi in there, multiply the area between the ribs times the 100 psi and you have the force that is pushing the barrels apart.

Great post Chuck! Surely that beautiful gun is grateful for the loving repair it received.

Thank you for the tutorial.
