I'd like to know more about the Baker Gun Company, but information is a bit scant. How did these guns stack up in quality against the Elsie's, Sterly's, Ithaca, etc?
All opinions are welcome.

There was one major recall of these guns. If you missed it you can send me any Bakers that you are stuck with. I will provide a safe home for their storage.
Joking aside you can find Bakers that were as well made, fit and finish wise as any gun of the same era. Most seem to be in lower grades and some of the later ones can be a little rough and less well finished. The Folsom made guns tend to be very much less well fit and finished than some of the earlier ones from the ones I have seen. I suspect that in the pecking order they were trying to be two steps above Crescents and near of just a step below Elsies.
Any high grade Baker is well worth looking at and there are a few die hard Baker collectors who post here. I am not one of them but can count seven Bakers in my gun room. All mine are lower grades as I have more interest in shooting, than hoarding, so a well used gun fits my needs much better than a perfect, pristine high grade work of art. The bug for a high grade Bakers never hit me but I have to admit I can see the reason to buy some of the early high grade Bakers. The engraving is excellent on them. Also the single barrel trap guns are very nice with some very interesting engraving.

Sorta nice.... "Dolly" is sorta nice too. That is a fine example of what I was talking about the high grade Baker guns being worth a look, or two, three or four. Most dog, bird or any other animal engraving of the period are almost comic book in nature while that one is a fine looking dog that looks like one I use to own.
Pity about that recall. That gun could have been worth upwards of $300.00 had it not been recalled. After the recall I can not see much more than $50.00 being a fair price. To help with your loss I pay shipping and make it a even $100.00.
