Hi I need to ID this 16 ga shotgun I picked up in Colorado gun show.It is Belgium made 6 and 1/4 lb, with 29 9/16" Damascus barrels,14 1/4" LOP. The butt plate and trigger gaurd is Horn. I will try to post some pictures of the gun.     [img]  Casey

Casey, I don't know who made that piece BUT, it must be top quality or they wouldn't have used an engraver (cost) of the level that cut this piece.

Looks like a wonderful find Casey.
Hope you enjoy it safely for many years to come, very nice.
Just a guess...looks like it might need a good cleaning of the action.....seems to fit a bit tighter at the bottom of the barrels than the top?
Any pics of the proofs?

Casey,
That looks to be a very well made belgian hammer gun. Please post pictures of all the marks on the water table of the action, the barrel flats, and any marks on the ribs(upper and/or lower. Does the gun have a cheek piece?

On the pictiure of the action water table its appears to have the Liege tower stamped on it, probably Belgian and very nice
I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong

If you could post pictures of the watertable and barrel flats, it may help. Belgian makers often stamped these areas with their trademark.
It is a very nice gun by the way.

Nice gun. I do hope you intend to change that hammer screw. Looks like that one came out of a household light switch or plug-in.

Casey,
I'm certainly no expert but I can tell you that my hammer-less W. Foerster has features and water table markings (including the perron) very similar to your beautiful gun. In particular, the dolls head design, screw and receiver engraving and style and design of the forend are very similar. My gun also has a "Berlin" marking on the receiver and a "J.Ansorg Wurzberg" marking on the top of the rib.
You might want to contact the German Gun Collectors Association as they may be able to assist.
