What's a a Purdey hammergun worth compared to it's hammerless Sle big brothers. About 1/5, and with sleeved barrels less than that...just as you know money isn't everything.

That piece is worth about $600. While quite nice, those Fox guns can give one real sticker shock. Couple of years ago I looked at plain 9+pounder with long heavy barrels with "not warranteed" or something similar stamped on barrel flats? The tag was nearly 7k. My comment was I can buy Superposed Magnum 3" in excellent shape for less than 1/3 of that mound of cash. The Browning is at least as good a piece if not better. Sometimes it pays to walk away knowing there are other options out there.

Jager - That would be a SuperFox. Rare-ish and pricey. The later ones were stamped "barrels not guaranteed". This referred to their advertising claims about long range patterns rather than the condition of the gun.

"Only problem was the rotary bolt was broke, it would not stay "open" when the gun was opened up and to close the gun you had to hold the top lever over and then release it"
That would probably be a missing or broken spring and can be fixed rather easily

Thru the Hole in the Wall this morning headed east and stopped at Bridgeport Cabellas. S/W 16 ga in the "libarry" tagged 9C an obvious torchy with very symmetrically-placed bullseyes on the trigger plate. But hey, they're all pre-owned, pre-fiddled, re-muddled so who's to know until the new owner's knowedgable friend says Didn't you notice the . . . Got a capper for the Old Army, box of fudge and left.

I bought ole' ejector just to have one. It came from daughter of old hunter who used it sporadically. She brought it to small out of place shop where I found it in a rack full of Remingtons. That's the only way to buy good original one at a fair price.
