At one time I was interested in purchasing a BSS until I found out they only came in single trigger. I even asked a question on this board about converting the gun to double triggers. It's strange, usually the Japanese are really good at taking someone elses invention and making it better, I guess they blew it with the BSS. Steve

Boys, just look for an older Charles Daly Miroku Model 500 and you can have double triggers to replace that abomination called a single selective trigger. P.S. Got three pheasants and a chukar at the club today and only three days ago I was walking the house with two canes and a bottle of aspirin. Then came the steroids. After 24 hours I had the mobility of a 40 year old. Ain't modern science and medicine great? Chops

Ok, Ok, youse guys... I know I'm a modern boy with my single triggers. But I do like my double triggers as well. As long as a single trigger is reliable, I have no heartburn with them. A vintage one is a different story altogether.
Like LB said, the BSS single trigger is normally as reliable as a bowling ball.
But, if someone really liked the BSS but for the trigger, the floorplate is cut for double triggers and gutting the single out of there would be no problem. Making some double triggers would be cake, IMO. I have another BSS 20g in a non-selective 28" that I may consider modifying to a DT. Too many projects right now and it IS working. A REALLY good reason to leave it alone ... for now.

Best reason to buy a BSS 20 Sporter is because it's such a sweet gun. I bought my first one because it was cheap (gunsmith needed a new lathe), but then I bought a 12 and then another 20. My triggers have been absolutely reliable, no reason to mess with them. Note that Chuck's trigger assembly had been previously messed with, and that apparently caused the doubling. Miroku knows how to build triggers.

I have a Miroku SxS - which is all but a BSS(except in name and better wood than most BSSs) that has a double trigger; I wouldn't take for it

I also have a Miroku/Daly 500 12 gauge with PG and a true splinter F/E, with DT. Wish it had a straight grip, but otherwise it's a much underappreciated gun. Found another one a few years ago with PG, splinter, DT and factory case colored frame for $1000. Didn't buy it, still kicking myself daily (or Daly).

I have a Daly 500 also, it is an extractor gun - but the Miroku ejector gun is a spitting image of a BSS. It is marked with a German Sporting goods dealers name, so I am sure it was for the European Market.
I wish a had a 20 Ga. also.

Replacement, I sold a Miroku just like the one you described: Straight/splinter/DT/CC receiver. Looked for all the world like a very basic Birmingham BLNE. Factory choked IC/IM. Hell of a pheasant gun. And I do kick myself for selling that one.
Saw a BSS a couple years back that had been converted to DT. Probably should've bought it. But then, like several people have said, the Miroku Dalys are essentially the same gun, already have the DT, and are a good bit cheaper than the guns that say Browning on them.
My main issue with the BSS is that it's too heavy. True even of the 20ga Sporters. They weigh about what a 12ga game gun should.

LB, How do the Miroku and Miroku/Daly's fair in the weight dept? I've noted that the BSS barrels have about a 1/4 lb of excess material in the wall thickness. My two 20g BSS guns have nearly .050 walls. I'm thinking of backboring one.
