Is it an ejector gun or extractor? If it is an extractor could the J spring be bent? Mine has a little curve to it. The concave side is toward the receiver and it stands up pretty straight when out of the gun.

Is the wood to metal fit on the forearm tight? Are the screws tight? I am looking at mine (extractor type) and the only thing I can see that could go wrong is an incorrect bend on the J spring or the metal shifted in the wood somehow. Maybe a former owner trying to improve it?
