My taste in doubles has been influenced by many things that all the earleir posters have cited. Now, what really appeals to me are guns that I can shoot real well. As I learned over many years that very pretty guns can get ugly real fast when you can't hit the broadside of a barn with them. So without that very important utilitarian factor, I'm not really interested. I want every gun I own to shoot great for me. SO far I have only found a few I can always count on: The superposed o/u, Win21's and sxs's with no more than 2 1/4" DAH. I would love to have a trojan restored, upgraded (engraved)and re-stocked to shootable dimensions for me. Love all the American Classic but can't shoot them worth a darn as is. Problem is the current Trojan I have is too nice to alter.

I saw my grandfather knock down two sea ducks with one shot with an old lever action 10 gage Winchester. I was certain that this was the ultimate gun. A few years later using my fathers Fox 12 gage I was convinced this was the perfect hunting combination. Well I bought my first Sears auto loader 12 ga.I loved that gun and thought my cousin was weird for using a 16 ga. gamecock double!! Until I tried it!!!You know what happend next.Double gun illness..410 for squirrels 20 for woodcock 12 for targets.I had figured it out until the Vice - President shot that lawyer with a 28 ga. I went out and bought two of them. lately I have room for a 32 ga.////

My tastes haven't changed much.....at least they couldn't have improved. I started collecting Model 21s right off the bat. Then Pete talked me into a 20 gauge Superposed. I took his word for it. I had to have one. Sweet little gun. BTFE a must. Straight grips are OK. Hunt exclusively with a 21...... As always.....my regards..........Denny Crane.

I've learned the meaning of the phrase "Don't use the words 'never' and 'always' when talking about guns'

I went from English guns to American because "in America I could get more information on the guns". Then the Lefever bug bit and that is where I am. JAS
Currently own two Morgan cars. Starting on Black Powder hunting to advoid the mob of riflemen.

Very little in the last 40 years. First gun i could hit quail with was a 20 ga. 26" Fox model B and i have gone to slighty higher grade sxs but nothing larger than 16 gauge and really prefer 20 and 28.The lighter the better! If a gun does not feel right and i cannot shoot it well i am not to happy with it! Bobby

Well, I guess my tastes have become much more refined. So much so that I now have champagne tastes and a beer budget.
Merry Christmas

My momma raised me to not descrimanate. I like them all. Doubles, pumps, O/U's, even a few autos. Low, middle and even high price guns are all fine with me. From 25" to 34" they are all welcome. The only thing that I seem to be constant on is that doubles should be preWWII. Current production guns do not do a whold lot for me.
In fact I have opened a whole wing, in my gunroom, for guns that need help with personal problems. Some call them project guns. I think of them as guns needing a little care and willing to become what ever I want them to be.
