Captain ---- first degrease all metal & remove any lac. coating. Next, heavily coat color case surface with Lysol toilet bowl cleaner (the thick type) and allow to set for about a half hour. Now you scrub the surface with 000 or 0000 steel wool to loosen the carbon particles that create the colors. Repeat this process until the action is free of color.

I next boil the action in water to remove all residue and place it into a can of filthy crabk case oil from diesel engine. Allow this to set for a few days or until metal takes on the gray color you are looking for. Ken
