Merry christmas and thanks for your responses. On Christmas day we will be taking family photos. If successful I will post for your study. I will try and get a few of the Meriden in question especially the sideplates. Further, info follows on the sideplates...engraving is identical on each side. includes a marsh scene with bull rushes, a small duck and cirilcues probably are meant to be clouds. The gun appears to also have cocking indicators much like a lefever. There is also a seven petal flower engraved on each side of the action forward of the sideplates. the trigger guard has two simple designs much like a religious sybol of a fish. The receiver flats/water table has the gun serial number and reflects the number of pellets that the gun put on target when you add 3 to the numbers....making the 28 inch gun choked modified and full. The stock seems to be better than basic wood and has a pistol grip with cap with a basic flower design. The buttplate is unremarkable and has no markings.
