I firmly believe that even if lead shot is banned in every state of the union we'll still be shooting classic vintage doubles and fine clay target guns long past our life times. The reason is, as always, economics and lead will be replaced with some alternative bio-friendly material that won't cost $2 to $3 a shell like the current non-tox hunting loads. In other words, "necessity is the mother of invention" and the need just hasn't been forced on the manufacturers yet. An example might be natural rubber versus synthetic rubber. It wasn't until WWII that we were forced to find suitable substitutes. Now we have them and some are better than the natural product. I expect lead shot will finally get a suitable substitute that won't hurt our barrels. JMO.
