I have a few answers regarding the polymer/plastic/stuff mixed in with the asymmetrical/non-spherical dogbone connected shot: the plastic is supposed to act as a buffer; the non-spherical dogbone mixed diameter shot purportedly yields better patterns; and if shot thru a vintage double will probably result in the "bulge-ring" as seen on some Browning A-5s.

Bismuth is readily available for $18-20 / lb. Maybe $1.25 an ounce delivered. So, if someone already had a Littleton shotmaker and some experience with it, it might be very feasible to have Bi shot for $1.50 per shell.

Mike:

That wouldn't be that much more than Kent's TungstenMatrix, which do they manufacture anymore? What & where is the Bismuth source?

Raimey,

I've searched Ebay in the past...this source always comes up. Shipping should actually be about $9 in a flate rate box.
