I'll add some photos tonight but I just received a German single shot rifle in 9.3x72R. The maker's initials are DROM. Can someone tell me what they stand for? Thanks

Mr. Harrell:
It should be "DRGM" which is an authorization just short of a patent or the right to use a patent. I'll find the correct terms. I reload many 360 Express and 9.3X72R. I just purchased some new brass with the parent headstamp and someone took I believe Norma 9.3X74R and formed it to 9.3X72R. Dave at Buffalo Arms is an excellent source for components.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

Thanks Raimey. The DRGM is followed by a long number. I have a few drillings so I have a bullet mold, lots of brass and a set of dies already. The rifle is dated 11-07 but no caliber markings at all. I need to take a close, (i.e. magnified), look at the rib and see if I can find a maker.

Mr. Harrell:
DRGM: Deutshces Reichs Gebrauchsmuster - small or petty patent for a novel idea. German Gun Collectors Bulletin Board Vol. 7, No. 2 has an excellent article by Larry Schuknecht. It also addresses DRP: Deutsches Reichs Patent. It is believed that many of the DRGM records were lost during the War. Is the single shot an underlever like a Sauer? Also, would it use 0.366" bullets? The caliber, or bullet type, should be on the left side with a "Crown" over "B" mark. Sometime the caliber is on the underside of the barrel near barrel lumps just up from the takedown lever. Most times, the inlet for the scope mounts in the rib removed most of the makers name.
If it doesn't have caliber designation, it should have a plug gauge stamp like: 118/35(118.35), 108/49(108.49) or something of the like.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

It is a push forward underlever. It does take the .364 bullet also. When I get home I'll check for the 118/35 type mark. No inlet for scope mounts. The barrel has been reblued and I'm sure it has been buffed some.

Is this the DROM that went at the Greg Martin Auction? I stopped bidding on one there early as I was saving to get the little Holland & Holland rook rifle which I did end getting.

Mr. Harrell:
Nice case colors and Schnable(?) forend. Is there a number stamped on the flip-up sight like 75 or 150? Also, I have a combination gun stamped 118.35, which is a pre-rifling diameter, that is a 360 Express. Have you tried to chamber a 9.3X72R cartridge? Last, what is the length of pull and is that a bolt/pen in the head of the stock?
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse
