Yeti,
Would you happen to have an author and date this BBC article ran? I ask this because I have a few 'anti' in-law types coming in for Christmas who might be eating 'crow' rather than turkey if I can substantiate the piece.
Even if you don't, I appreciate your posting it.

One of 17 copies of the Magna Charter sold yesterday for $21 million dollars. I guess they sold it now before it was given away by the Godless heathen socialists.
The Brit crime rate is actually a lot higher than shown. The bobbies consider a series of crimes by one crook to be only one crime. And the coppers have the good sense to get crooks to confess to crimes they did not commit (by lowering their sentence) in order to "solve" more crimes and lower the crime rate by blaming more crimes on one person. I guess Brit coppers are all Dimocraps.

Thank you Yeti & VV.
Good ammo for next letters to the editors.

Robert Harris, Vinny V posted the link just above. It is a heck of an article, and a couple years out of date. The statistics are apparently worse now.

'Thanks' Yeti and VV for getting this out, it is appreciated. I've a couple of Joyce L. Malcolm's earlier books on gun confiscation 'issues' and can highly recommend them, but have to say I was surprised to see the BBC running this piece.
All Best,
Rob
