Or he gave very little for it in the first place.

I see where you're coming from on the drop of price, however, I do trust him much more than I trust most gun dealers/smiths when it comes to being honest. When he first obtained the gun he offered it to me for 1200, but I simply didn't have the time to check it out. That sort of gun - especially in his kind of shop - would not sell very well. I suspect he may have 8-900 in it. This is certainly not an establishment that deals in fine firearms.

Forgive my ignorance Dave, you'll have to be more specific on "G/B" and "A/A"...

http://www.hallowellco.com/hubner%20drilling.htm

This may not be of any help, but this is the only picture I have found of something that has the same Darmstadt and Robert Hubner markings. The double I am looking at shares many characteristics with this one as far as I can tell...

I would think that you are correct in guessing what the owner paid. It's probably a war bring back trophy with 65mm chambers and 69cm tubes. But a pic of the barrel flats and watertable would possibly solve some of the puzzle.

I had a Hubner once and it was a 29 in bbl 16 ga. Marked as is yours. I bought it out of a small local gunshop as a basket case ... horrible restock. I had it redone was happy with it many years as my early season grouse/wc gun. I sold it at the vintager's a number of years ago.

Nice post Mr. Wolfe. Did you happen to purchase any of the dead hanging game art yesterday via phone at the auction?

I now have pictures and some more details that I'll post soon. However, I somehow lost my camera and had to borrow a friend's and the pictures are mostly trash, so I'll post what I have that's worth looking at.
