Unfortunetly any drop in the price of lead shot will be severely offset by the increase in price of other goods. Eggs are up 150%, tuna 40%, gasolene up 33% above its previous 100% increase. Even if shot drops to $13.00 a bag we are all still paying far more than we have. I assume that inflation applies only slightly since the cost of fuel is the impetus pushing prices higher. Lead is heavy.

Don't worry, the price of fuel is driving inflation. Inflation will drive everything higher including incomes thereby offsetting higher fuel prices (and lead prices).

Unless you are retired and on a fixed income! Inflation is the greatest tax of all!!!

While lead shot went up 2-3X in my area last year, loaded ammo inched up in 5% increments. But I got a real sticker shock a couple of days ago when I saw the price hikes at WalMart. Just for instance, Win AA's took all year to climb from $5 to $6, then jumped overnight to $7.64 a box. Remingtons jumped in the same 24 hours, but not Federal.....so I cleaned out 3 WalMarts of their Federal promo shoot-em-ups. Early Christmas present for me.

I doubt I'll ever buy another flat of shotshells for $42.

IF the price of lead is coming down, I sure could not see that last time I went to Sportsman's Wearhouse. Shot was USD50 for 25 lbs, up from "only" USD38 a few months earlier. Hope it is not USD75 next time I go there.
