From the request for "in lieu of flowers" I would guess cancer. It is a bit odd that one is a hospice and the other is the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which as I think about is deals mostly with breast cancer. Could be off by a mile as many of these funds seem to cover more teratory than a pointer with an extra set of legs. Might be as a tribute to his sister who passed earlier.
I also would like to pass on my deepest sympathy for the loss of a very nice person who I am sure was a very loved famioy member and a good friend.
