Inexpensive shells are not necessarily bad shells. The Federal promo loads Wally sells are, in fact, excellent shells. As are the Remington Sport Load shells.
The Winchester stuff, on the other hand, has issues. Something the consumer finds out easily enough shooting the first box. Is it worth $2.87 if the heads are corroded right out of the box, the smoke (of which there is quite a bit for a "smokeless" load) smells like sour milk, and pieces of shot wrapper rain down for five minutes after firing? The customer can be the judge.
I burned quite a few Federal Multi-Purpose shells last summer shooting trap and wobble trap - purchased at the local Wal-Mart. For the price, I can take 3Deq recoil.
