If I were to buy a bespoke sidelock gun today, I would commission Adam Davies to build me a gun. Otherwise I would buy another Purdey.

What a wonderful choice to be faced with. At least you cannot go wrong!
The reason for my post is to mention that I visited Purdey's shop in London this summer and was treated extremely well, even after making it clear that I was looking & not buying. The salesman I spoke with was friendly and attentive almost to the point of being indulgent.

I was at Purdeys last week. They had a handful of new guns in stock - SXS & O/Us. They were OK. The metal-to-metal fit on a couple of the SxS was gappy around the locks. I don't know if I would accept that on a $130,000 gun.
I spent some time with the gunmaker mentioned by Snowleopard (not Purdey). He told me that Greener is turning out one of the best guns being made in the UK (after his).
And Snowleopard, are you the guy with the 28g Purdey SxS by the same name?
