Chuck--- Funny you should mention the 28 gauge... I was picking up a little 410 side by side yesterday at my local gun shop and there on the counter was a 28 gauge shell and I picked it up and said, "hmmmmmm, I do like how those look!"
I guess I went down that route of the 12 verses the 20 only because you said you missed that bird and wondered about opening up the chokes or not and was asking for comments... so the suggestion of more pellets was just one possible thought, but obviously it sounds like you hit em good with that 20 of yours overall and alittle tweek like opening up the bores a tad might benefit those crossing and close birdies...
I just recently re-read ""Capstick's"" rant on the benefits of MORE pellets to increase the percentages and thought it might be of benefit here.
