Chicago and others... your post is reminiscent of Chapstick and his strong stance that the 12 gauge was the undeniable bird killer, clay killer... As Chapstick drumbeats---higher percentage of kills because of the vastly greater quantity of pellets!, etc.
After playing with others I have decided (for now at least) to focus on double barrel 12 gauges and 410's. Both for very different deployments... Obviously. But these days I just don't have much use for the 20 or 16 or 28... Although I own them.
Yet going back to the specific start of this thread, Chuck, I would open them up AND I would use higher payload 20 gauge shells (if you load your own I would increase the pellet count) Moreover, and not to sound too much like a Chapstick fiend, I do think there is merit to his ardent philosophy for the 7 1/2... or 9's even for all birds... Just count how many friggin more pellets there are! hahahahahaa
