I am a huge fan of AI. When you get into it really deeply it can be an enormous help.
Take an intelligence analyst who has to report on say Mali and the civil/Islamic war there - and has to read everything and analyze everything. You can ask,
-- "name the provinces; the governors, their tribal affiliations."
-- "What is the current relationship between JNIM, ISIS, AQIM and the Tuareg Nationalists?"
-- "Is JNIM actually Fulani nationalist aspirations hiding under Islamic fundamentalism?" Etc.
You can get a very complete rundown of the daily reporting and press.
Or you are an Economist working at IMF on a complex economic model for China and you start by needing cites and wind up getting summaries of alternative viewpoints.
Or you are repairing a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and there is a carburetor screw you are not familiar with. . .etc...etc.
Yet there is the downside. One son does a lot of video editing. Apparently a Japanese firm is using AI to search for patent and copyright infringement and any mention of a copyright name, even in a review of a film for instance, triggers an AI lawsuit.
DUNE the novel predicted this. Humans ultimately banned computers/machines and created human computers trained from birth called "Mentats" (we would call them "polymaths" in the traditional world); But you cannot put the cork back into the bottle now, just as the Ukrainian War has cemented drones as being able to destroy an armored brigade in 30 minutes before one gun is fired.
But for now to ignore this resource is like driving a horse and buggy in the age of Henry Ford.
