No speed limits, Ted. Get careless and you will get pulled over and checked, but if there's no evidence of impaired driving or recklessness there's no problem.

I wear a Lifeline vest, which is the best made for flotation and impact, and I have a kill switch cord attached to it. I've met some wardens, in their boats, at pretty high speed and have never been pulled over for it.

But, I am very judicious about when and where I let the horses run, so to speak.

Might I add, I am not a speed freak. On the highway I wear my seatbelt and set my cruise dead on the speed limits. But, I live 2 miles from the nearest boat landing and make good use of the proximity and the laws. No speed limit means exactly what it says, in Jawja.

Greybearstmm3, I have adopted a saying that I saw awhile ago.

"Among my hobbies are going to places that an ambulance can't get to, and doing things that may require an ambulance."

Much to my wife's chagrin.

Stan,
It occurred to me after your post that conditions on Lake Superior are far more dangerous if you find yourself in the water. That likely has something, or, much to do with the laws.

My 20 ft Larson was capable of 55mph, and it saw some of that on Lake Superior. Usually around the Apostle Islands, rather than out on the main lake. But, regardless, if you found yourself in the lake wearing clothes, you had a problem with just a few minutes to resolve it, before you lost consciousness, and sank.

Best,
Ted

Very different conditions, Ted. I've got no problem with that.

I don't know how long we will have a No Speed Limit law. But, when in Rome, I'll shoot Roman candles.

Catching up on some reading and come across this comment on an article in the WSJ and thought it appropriate for the Canada Jim thread …

“FIGHT, and you may wait in a town council meeting for three hours to speak. RUN AWAY, and you may get ticketed. But sitting in your cars many years from now, would you be willing to trade all your parking spots from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our councillors that they may take our free parking, but they'll never take our FREEEEEDOMMMM”

Ted,

Have you picked a landing spot yet for your escape from Minnesota? Don’t wait too long. Time keeps on slipping into the future.
