Aha! I think I may have worked it out. After the half cock notch passes the sear nose when firing, the shape of the tumbler just after the notch forces the sear nose down, putting the sear spring under tension and this tension is what drives the sear nose into the half cock notch. Thanks Rick W, your reply got me thinking and this is the result.
