Hi, I am a bit new here and wondering if a kind person can help me understand the mechanism of the Stanton rebounding lock (pat 367). I can see from pictures how the rebounding principle works, but what puzzles me is how the sear nose is kept from engaging the half cock notch/bent during the firing action of the tumbler, but not on the rebound. I assumed that the rounded bottom of the tumbler, as it falls, acts like a cam and pushes the sear nose away from the notch but cannot divine why this does not apply during the rebounding movement, allowing the sear nose to engage with the notch. Or does a trigger pull keep the sear nose from engaging the notch during the tumbler fall but the rebounding movement forces the sear nose upwards (quite how, I am not sure), ensuring that it engages after detonation? Or does the engagement simply rely on the shooter releasing pressure on the trigger after firing to allow the sear nose to engage the notch? If that is correct, then does the recoil of the gun automatically cause the shooter to relax the pressure on the trigger, allowing the sear spring to force the engagement?
