Found a Roma 6 I like but it has a single trigger. I'd prefer double triggers. Anybody have experience with the V. Bernardelli single triggers and actual knowledge of how reliable they are?

I don't recall any of the people I've known who have had them having any problems.

A single trigger is not like the LED in your dogs training collar, in that it either works or it doesn’t. They are made and fitted by humans, to a substrate (wood) that is subject to expansion, contraction and outright breakage over time. They come in mechanical, inertia, non selective and selective versions, and there is no guarantee the manufacturer stuck with the same version over the time the gun was in production. We had a Beretta inertia trigger that was fine, until the gun got a big, squishy recoil pad installed, and the gun wouldn’t work with light loads after that. Funny, the gun was sidelined for a few decades, and the big squishy pad got hard, and the problem with the trigger resetting for the second shot went away. Of course, it worked sometimes, and sometimes (mostly) it didn’t.

My dad blamed the ammunition the whole time. But, we did figure it out. A little lube didn’t hurt, either.

I took a quick scan of the interweb thingy that Albert Gore Jr. invented for us, and, most of the Bernardelli Roma 6 guns for sale are indeed double trigger guns. If you squint a little bit, there might be a hint about the single trigger in that fact.

You already said you prefer double triggers.

Another hint, I’m thinking. I’d suggest you keep looking.

The evolution of the Browning Superposed trigger is another solid example of that. Double triggers, Single non-selective, Twin-Single triggers, single selective (inertia) with the selector next to the trigger, single selective (inertia) with the selector as part of the safety, single selective (mechanical) with the selector next to the trigger, and the "Olympic" which is a version of the latter.

The inertia triggers were known to not work great in the smallbore guns with light loads - my daughter's 20 gauge being an example of this.

Don’t forget the double single Browning trigger. Either one would fire both barrels. Which one you selected would change the firing order.

I meant to include the Twin Single trigger, I'll edit to add it.

I've owned two of them, they were very cool.

I'd like to find another, but they're getting to be more money than they are worth to me.

The single triggers in bernardelli guns will work fine

Spanish guns in small bores. Not so good

Thanks all. Yeah, it was the reputation of Spanish guns giving me pause. I’d expect a Vincenzo Betnardelli to be better.
