As a matter of fact the youth programs are booming in California. High schools have shooting teams and are even in the local (Sacramento) news occasionally..
And they're not shooting SxS guns for obvious reasons

This was just an attempt to make youth shooting sports more expensive and to limit the popularity of same, here in the second craziest state of the union. They failed. Good.

You know, the hormone blockers are free at the high school, right? Always makes me ponder the nonexistent concern “for the ‘chirens” over lead shot when I look down that rabbit hole, here.

Doubles? There was a young lady that shot on my son’s league, using grandma’s SKB model 150 20 gauge SXS. She shot my sons Mossberg 500 12 gauge much better. But, she didn’t care.

Grandma got her involved, and was in the stands cheering for her. I was, too. Yea, she was the outlier. So what?

There were no high school trap leagues when I was in high school, much less with entire squads of teenage girls kicking ass and taking names. There has been plenty of hand wringing from the usual suspects about the wisdom of what is happening, but, the cat is out of the bag, and despite efforts like the one I linked to, above, little can be done at this point to hamper what are the fastest growing sports in high school.

The usual suspects, are everywhere.

The thing is, the clubs around here reclaim the lead to be sold every few years. It is done under state supervision. That typically can’t happen in a duck slew, so, the ban serves a purpose, in that case.

I wouldn’t be on board for changing the Federal ban, without some evidence that supported same.

The people trying to force the lead ban down the throats of the clubs here in Minnesota had all the facts, saw there was minimal concern for the precious ‘chilrens shooting with lead ammunition there, and, in their infinite wisdom, tried, hard, to stuff it anyway. It goes without saying this was not a bipartisan issue, know what I’m saying?

The Federal bans have been in place most of my life. You have evidence, to support overturning the Federal lead ban, I’ll listen. Otherwise, I got other hills to die on,

We have gun owners who vote for 100% anti-gun Democrats... who when elected pass more and more legislation restricting guns, ammunition, and hunting. Who could see that coming?

Then these same Liberal Left Democrat Gun Owners cry and complain that the NRA, GOA, and other Gun Rights organizations aren't doing enough to repeal the anti-gun laws that they themselves are ultimately responsible for.

As if that wasn't bad enough, these same gun owners who elect the anti-gunners will then claim to be "staunch supporters of Gun Rights"... you can't make this shit up!

They've been out buying suppressors, and short barreled ARs, like your bubby JM mentioned on one of the locked threads, thank you Mr President. By the way, your booming kali high school shooting teams, may be more of a fizzle. The organizing body reluctantly reports about eleven hundred members in the world's fifth largest economy, thank you camala.

Gee, how exciting, suppressors and short barreled AR's. Now there is something I really could not care less about. Something to distract some of you from the mess this administration is causing I guess. Another war we don't need, gas prices through the roof, illegal tariffs, the dollar dropping like a rock, trade wars with our former allies, the deficit growing at an unprecedented rate.

When I was a kid in rural KY the mix at the local gun club was probably 40% autos 45% pumps 8% o/u and the rest sxs,bolts,singles. Browning a5s and model 12s were held in high regard. As to the younger generation I think that there will be some sxs affection but it won’t be as much vintage guns that aren’t steel rated and shoot hard to find ammo. It’s good to remember that forms such as this one is patronized by a very small % of the gun owning population and irs easy to get the impression that there are more like us than there are. But ithink the guys that buy the CZ sxs guns and the Yilddze ?. will continue.i think that predicting the pump’s demise is premature as it is still pretty widely used in the turkey woods, slug hunting, waterfowl and don’t forget tactical, plus there are millions out there in the hands of hunters that don’t necessarily frequent the shooting enthusiast web world. The hunting shooting world I enjoyed is largely gone. Land access is largely gone unless willing to pay $$$ so I think sporting gun ownership will decline dramatically with succeeding generations . The tactical mkt will continue but it will do so without me.
