Has anyone estimated how many Sauer M30 Luftwaffe drillings survived WWII in functional condition?

I've come across one (a bring-back) in of all places Montana! I've seen prices posted in the $20K range. Is this still a realistic value?

Many of the ones I have seen had the chambers lengthened and had a scope mounted, as well as the case and other items being missing. In this condition, they would not bring nearly as much as cited above.

Der Ami (and Raimey): thanks for your information.

Were the 12ga chambers originally 65mm? Or are you references lengthening the 9.3 rifle chamber?

The cased example on GB is impressive!

Grouse Guy,
The chambers were 65mm in the shot barrels and they were issued with popup open rear sight and no scope.

Yeah, M.V. Highsmith use to scold me for dreaming of a Luftwaffe drilling, just as I had discovered the 3 Barreled Bastards. To bore the few & fleeting, I will skim over the back story. I was Quail hunting on our property in West Alabama & got a great point in a brushpile by one of our Female English Pointers. The Brushpile was quite large, so I eased around it & out popped the Hartford Buck, maybe a little bigger as it seemed(Bullwinkle was the other thought). He stood up & it was a 3 Way Mexican Standoff w/ my Pointer looking @ me like >>What do we do??<<. The Hartford Whitetail hopped off & I never saw him again. So I started carrying a 30-30 w/ my Remington 1100 and that was pretty much a trainwreck. Then I stumbled onto the Kombo and subsequent Drilling. Anyway, Highsmith would say you carry that >>Kraut Knife<< and dream of that >>Kraut Drilling and those things were $500 with the box in the 1950s & 1960s. Get yourself a Proper Gun<< I do wish that had carried over into the late 1970s.....
