A hunting anecdote from my friend Dr. Tscharkart (sp?), who was raised in Sudetenland and whose father was a big landowner and well-known hunter. On the first day of the small game season, his father always held a large drive hunt and overnight feast. The day before the season opened, his father killed a Hase and hung it on the water pump handle in the courtyard of his house as a sign to everyone that he was the "boss" of hunt there, not the authorities.
