I don't even consider 7.4 lbs. heavy. I've got big duck gun S X Ss weighing up to 9.5 lbs. 😁

May God bless America and those who defend her.

I haven't gotten my hands on a pigeon or a gun like that yet. Coming from Trap, where 9lbs is the average, it's strange to see so many at 5/6lbs. I am not a hunter, so I don't have that experience, but I do get that carrying a lunker all day in the field would not be fun.

It depends what it's used for.

A heavy gun in a duck blind, or on a clays course, is no big deal.

...it's a whole 'nother deal as a grouse gun, or even for prairie birds.

No one was referring to usage, GR. Read the poster's words that I quoted. He said he's never seen a S X S as heavy as 7.4 lbs.

Try to stay on topic. That was a pitiful attempt to start up another confrontation.

Sleep tight, now.

Um...no, it wasn't. It was just a comment. 🙄

Stan, when someone like Joff utilizes a false manufactured QUOTE as his Signature line, and attributes his own disparaging words about the NRA to someone else, then every Post he makes is a pitiful attempt to start another confrontation.

But an egotistical little narcissist like Joff thinks he always has the right to do anything he wants.

I might as well show everyone just where Joff's Signature line originated:

This should result in yet another childish tantrum and more manufactured QUOTES from Joff.

You get used to it…

Have you shot the gun yet? I own a Falcon, ‘sort of a model 30 that was specific to the US market, circa 1972. Even after I adjusted the pitch on the stock (it would jump off my shoulder prior to that, the recoil was so bad) it is one of those 6 1/2 pound guns that just beats me up. Yea, I do the light load thing, and I’m all done shooting clay games with it. But, some days it is the perfect hunting gun.

Best,
Ted

So I have not yet. I will try some 7/8 12ga in it I will try some clays hopefully this weekend. I will chk balance and see if add an adapter for my shotkam for SXS and that will add 8oz to it. Maybe help a little with the recoil.

Hmm. That gun is a full pound heavier than mine. I don’t own a double over 7lbs. I’ve got a 16 gauge Browning Standard A5 that is close, but, recoil isn't an issue.

Best,
Ted
