I have a project SxS that I am playing around with right now. It is an antique belgium 12 gauge hammergun w/ laminated barrels (let's please not have the discussion on the safety of laminated barrels in this thread). This gun is beautiful even though it has no engraving - wood is great, finish has age but not worn off, etc.
It is a really nice wall hanger but I take it down on occasion to shoot a half dozen rounds at clay targets in my back pasture. I am currently shooting 2 1/2" blackpowder shells w/ 1-1/8 oz of #8 shot and 3 drams of BP through it (made by Republic Metallic Cartridge Co.)
What I am finding is that the shells don't want to slide out on their own after I have fired a second round through each barrel. My question is what is the best way to smooth up and polish these chambers so the shells just fall out on their own. Or is this just a problem that I am going to have when shooting black powder? It seems that there should be an easy fix but want the feedback from the group before picking a solution.
Also, I am not reloading my own 2 1/2" shells yet so if anyone knows of any black powder shells that are loaded a little lighter than what I am using, I would sure like to find out where to find them.
