I shoot every week with a one to three vintage hammer gun shooters. I shift every other week between a Fred Williams 12 Damascus, to a Watson 16, back action, to a Lancaster 20. We enjoy ourselves and sometimes break more than we miss, but who is counting.

I have a Joseph Lang model #1 that is my main hunting gun. Handloaded for 7/8 oz. shot at about 1180-1200 fps.

I try to rotate through my sxs guns. I have a couple of Fox guns which are my core clay guns but I bring others on a regular basis. In a club with 425 members I'm the only sxs shooter and the other members regard me as some kind of nut.

Based on my ammo, clays, and component bills the CEO has concluded I shoot a lot. Nuff said.

After some expensive repairs to some I must say I do have some reservations.

In a club with 425 members I'm the only sxs shooter and the other members regard me as some kind of nut. I have been accepted as a nut for only shooting SXS for skeet (mostly) and sporting clays (rarely). A handful have even bought a SxS themselves, but nothing as old as the ones we routinely use. As for low pressure 2.5" ammo, try https://www.cartuchosarmusa.com and their "Classico" ammo. Listed as under 7,000 PSI. In the US they can be bought at https://ammofix.com. Not cheap, but less expensive than RST
I have become addicted to English hammered shotguns to the detriment of my wallet.

Shoot their guns?
I took one of the damascus hammer guns out this morning and shot a round of sporting clays. What other reason would you have for owning them? It would be like owning a television and never watching it, or a truck and never driving it. Or a wife and never . . . . . . arguing with her. Kind of a strange question, IMO. Station #7 was a b**ch, eh? Of course, you know better than make a statement like this. There is so much white noise on this forum, like how mean someone is or other such threads. I started this with the idea of sharing the use of guns, not just collecting them...

Of course, you know better than to ask what you did. Touche'
Maybe be a bit more specific with your question, shrapnel?
I can't read your mind. When you asked "Does anyone shoot their guns?" I took you literally.
I tend to do that, and not infer what someone might mean.
A way to say what I think you really meant would have been "How often do you shoot your vintage S X S doubles?" Had you asked that I would have understood exactly what you meant, and answered in a much different way..
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Shrapnel, sorry - I had fun with your post but knew what you meant. I only shoot my vintage SxS's. Why shoot an ugly gun? My Vietnam Vets all shoot the same. We don't really care much about scores. My sons will shoot their O/U's or sometimes for old times sake the 870's, but for me there's only the 1897 12ga Reilly SxS hammergun (my favorite - the gun that started the Reilly research), the 1886 Reilly SxS side lever 16 ga (currently experiencing some mechanical problems again), and the 1900 William Evans 20 ga SxS boxlock - smooth as butter. The Frenchie 16ga pretty much stays in the closet. That's it come rain or shine. Unless we decide to go full bore (younger) Stanton and shoot this: ![[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]](https://www.jpgbox.com/jpg/76130_600x400.jpg)
